The Modern Family

The majority of American families have shifted from the traditional family, to that of the more modern stepfamily. According to the U.S. Bureau of Census, fifty percent of children under the age of 13 are currently living with one biological parent and that parent’s current partner. While some may consider it a “broken home”, children living with stepparents tend to still do well if their biological mothers and fathers resume their parenting roles and continue to build relationships with their children.

GBCA Head Start’s staff and teachers encourage and support all families.
