Jersey City Head Start Fights the Flu

We are in the midst of a troublesome flu season this year and the Jersey City Board of Education (JCBOE) has turned their focus to ensuring that Jersey City’s youngest residents receive their flu shots; an important preventative measure in combatting the flu epidemic. NJ law states that all children up to age 5 enrolled in school or daycare must have their flu shot by the end of the calendar year.

This year 5 of GBCA’s Jersey City Head Start locations met the challenge and 100% of the students received their flu shots before the December 31, 2017 deadline! The Board of Education nurses were thrilled with this accomplishment. Each site was celebrated with a banner provided by the JCBOE. Thank you and congratulations to our Special Services Team led by Associate Director Soraya Perdomo!
