As a way to keep our Head Start students safe, Paterson’s Fire Engine #2 visited our Westside location and gave a fire safety drill demonstration. The firemen came dressed in their fire suits and explained the proper procedures in case of a fire. They also showed the students how a firefighter would dress in those situations so that they are aware of what to look for.
The students were able to ask the firemen questions about safe behavior during a fire and how to prevent fires by practicing caution in the kitchen and not playing with matches and other flammable objects. At the end of the demonstration, the students went outside where they were able to see a live firetruck and were further educated on safety precautions during a fire drill when they are in school.
